News from the labs
Our latest inspiration, projects near and far, and a couple special offers too

An amazing article in the Boston Globe on the unique presence of the “vanishing” print spoke right to our print-loving hearts. Please read it.

Slater Mill's Lewis Hine Photographs

HERE
Slater Mill, the birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution (located just down the road from iolabs), opened its Jencks Education Center this fall. Designed by local architecture firm TwoTon, Inc., the space features wooden storage units wrapped in large-scale reproductions of historic Lewis Hine photographs of mill workers from the museum’s collection. iolabs custom-printed the images onto adhesive-backed vinyl and hand-mounted them. (Yes, manual labor is alive and well in the Blackstone Valley!)

Annie Langan work on display

THERE
We’re excited to be working with new clients fecalface.com, the San Francisco-based gallery and website, to create limited edition prints by Jay Howell (signing his stylized portraits, right) and Kill Pixie (whose neon futuristic illustrations emerge from our printers, left).

Deborah Baronas’s works on silk

UP IN THE AIR
We worked with Newport-based artist Eric Hovermale to produce Dance Memory, his luminous installation shown at the Bristol Art Museum this winter. Eric’s photographs are printed on silk chiffon, then mounted on bars and hung to let the light pass though.
